Mr. Brown, you have been in the business for fifty years now, shaping Black music like no other artist. Where do you think soul and funk would be today if you had never been born?
I can´t imagine. Because if I hadn´t been born, I´d be out of it. But there probably wouldn´t have been soul and funk. Because that´s my job, you know. Thank God I was able to start it, and, you know, funk covers a lot of things. Soul covers the basic feeling...and the sound. But funk...funk is a style to deliver it. It has more impact. And you can´t perceive what would be if I weren´t here. It´s like, "Who delivers the presents if Santa Claus wasn´t here on Christmas?" (shrugs his shoulder)

Sr. Brown, lleva cincuenta años en el negocio, dando forma a la música negra como ningún otro artista. Dónde cree usted que estarían hoy el soul y el funk si no hubiera nacido?
No lo puedo imaginar. Porque si yo no hubiera nacido, estaría fuera de ello. Pero probablemente no habrían existido el soul y el funk. Porque ese es my trabajo, ¿sabes?. Gracias a Dios yo pude empezarlo, el funk abarca un montón de cosas, ¿sabes?. El soul cubre el feeling básico...y el sonido. Pero el funk...el funk es el estilo con que se transmite. Tiene más impacto. Y no puedes percibir qué sería si yo no estuviera aquí. Es como, "¿Quién repartiría los regalos en Navidad si no estuviera Santa Claus? (encoge los hombros)
